At Lakeuden Etappi Oy's biogas plant, the Doda Separator is used as a pre-treatment device for organic waste. It separates household and industrial organic waste from plastics and other non-organic materials. The automated device has a separation efficiency of around 5%, meaning that the organic matter is effectively separated, and dry plastic is directed to combustion. The system is a compact and energy-efficient solution for handling biowaste.

To dry and sanitize digested sludge, Lakeuden Etappi Oy's biogas plant uses Haarslev's disc dryer. The equipment is highly suitable for drying and sanitizing digestate. It has been in use for over 17 years and continues to function reliably.

To treat nitrogen-rich reject water at Lakeuden Etappi Oy's biogas facility, anammox bacteria from EssDe is used. Also known as Deammonification, the bacteria removes ammonium nitrogen from wastewater with 98% efficiency. It requires minimal oxygen, which is supplied intermittently, making the nitrogen removal process energy-efficient. Compared to nitrification/denitrification, it uses 60% less energy.
